janelle ralph - 6th-8th Bible & History

I am so happy to a part of the Arrows community, and I am excited to partner with families in teaching 6th - 8th grade this year! I grew up here in the Rogue Valley and went through Sams Valley Elementary, Hanby Middle, and Crater High School. I enjoyed growing up in the country, being in youth group, and running cross-country and track in high school. I attended George Fox University and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education and an Oregon Teaching License. After graduation, I headed to China where I taught English at a University for a year and a half. After returning home, I married my wonderful husband, started substitute teaching, and working on my Masters in Education. We spent three years in Indiana with his job before returning to the valley and building our home. I continued to substitute teach, completed my Master’s degree, and taught one year full time in 3rd grade. We were then blessed by our wonderful daughter who will be in 1st grade this year at Arrows. Five years later the Lord blessed us with our son who turned one in June. In addition to teaching, I continue to love running, and my husband and I have completed a half marathon in all 50 states. We also love to travel and have visited 17 countries. Hiking is my other favorite activity along with camping and enjoying time with friends and family. I attend a local church I have been a part of since birth, and I am involved in the Christian Education and Missions committees. I am passionate about Jesus, fitness and nutrition, and the beautiful world the Lord created for all of us. I love to teach and learn and have fun with kids!

Julie Delack - 6th-8th grammar, writing, yearbook club

Hi friends! I'm Julie DeLack. It is such a blessing to be a member of the Arrows team. I’m especially excited to be back working with our amazing middle schoolers. Before coming to work at Arrows, I was a stay-at-home mom to our three kiddos, Amelia, Logan, and Caleb. I also served our local community in various roles in children’s ministries. Our family’s homeschool journey began in 2020. We didn’t always see homeschooling in our future, but we are so glad for the unexpected blessing! As someone who grew up with dyslexia and other learning difficulties, school was a challenge, and I had to learn to love learning! Now, as an Arrows tutor, I get to pass along different strategies that help make learning more fun and a little less of a challenge. In my free time, I enjoy taking ballet and tap classes, water coloring, reading, and doing all the outdoor activities with my husband and three kids!

Mallory fairrington - 6th-8th science

My name is Mallory Fairrington, and I am honored to be teaching middle school science at Arrows Academy. I have born and raised in the beautiful Rogue Valley and have a deep appreciation for all this area has to offer

I have been married to my husband, Tanner, for 17 years, and we are blessed with two wonderful children, Tyler and Sadie, who both enjoy being a part of Arrows Academy. Our family has been involved with the Arrows community since 2020, and it has been a joy to grow alongside such a meaningful and mission-minded program

Professionally, my background is in science. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Vascular Technology from Oregon Tech and spent 17 years working as a vascular ultrasound tech before transitioning out of healthcare.

Prior to stepping into the classroom, I served on the Arrows Board of Directors for two years and then joined the staff as an aide during the 2024–2025 school year.

I am thrilled to now be teaching science and working closely with our middle school families. It’s a privilege to help foster curiosity, discovery, and a love of learning in our students.

Nichole Baird - 5th Grade

Hi! My name is Nichole Baird and I feel so blessed to partner with you in homeschooling your 4th grader! My husband, Adam, and I have been married for 19 years and relocated our family from Lake Havasu City, Arizona to the Rogue Valley at the end of 2015. We have three boys – Micah-17, Seth-15, and Eli-12. I have homeschooled them all from the beginning in 2012 and we had our first graduate this past school year! I was homeschooled myself from 7th grade through high school and then graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, CA. Growing up, I was always very involved in church – starting as a teenager serving in the children’s ministry, cleaning ministry, sound ministry, etc. I was our church secretary for about 12 years before we moved to Oregon. We love our church home at Heritage Christian Fellowship, where I currently serve in the women's and children’s ministries. We started attending Arrows Co-op in 2016 and I taught the co-op Pre-K class during the five years we were involved.  This will be my sixth year teaching at Arrows Academy.  In previous years, I taught PreK, 3rd grade and 4th grade. I look forward to teaching your kids 2 days a week to be bright, kind, and loving children.

HEATHER SEARS - 5TH GRADE

Hi! My name is Heather Sears and I am very excited to be joining the team at Arrows Christian Academy as a teacher. Originally from a rural island in Southeast Alaska, I came to Oregon in 2009 to pursue my Bachelors degree in Communication from Southern Oregon University. In 2012 I graduated with my B.S. in Communication with an emphasis in photojournalism and a minor in art photography. I also hold a TESOL/TESL/TEFL certificate from Oxford Seminars. My teacher training course helped prepare me for teaching a wide range of students, and I look forward to applying that knowledge at Arrows. Prior to becoming a homeschooling mom I worked for a local fire department assisting  in operations and working as their Community Engagement Coordinator. Feeling drawn to be home with our young children more ultimately led us to homeschooling!

My husband, Robert, and I enjoy a simple life on our two-acre homestead raising our two children who also attend Arrows. Our family is part of the Edgewater Church community, which we love! In our free time we enjoy exploring nature in all forms, especially paddleboarding and hiking as a family.

Jennifer Shields - 4th Grade

I have lived in the Rogue Valley for over 40 years. Graduating from Southern

Oregon University in June 2016. I am a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. I also have two Shih-Tzu puppies, Loki & Pico. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends outdoors as much as possible, we like to go camping, hiking, biking, and

rafting on the Rogue River. I have always wanted to be a teacher and enjoy working with children. For eight years, I worked as a special education assistant for the Medford School District. I taught two years for the Eagle Point School District and 8 years at Kids Unlimited Academy Charter School, before joining Arrows Academy. Over the years, I have volunteered with Special Olympics, Living Opportunities, the Medford Art Gallery, Polar Express, Feed My Starving Children, local Soup Kitchens, and at Mountain Church. My philosophy for education is to provide a safe learning community for all learners that

will allow them to reach their individual academic potential. I want to challenge young learners, provide positive support while embracing different learning styles to accommodate each student’s individual needs.

Jamilyn Friend - 3RD grade

Hi everyone! I am beyond excited to be teaching 3nd grade this year at Arrows. This is my 5th year homeschooling my kids and my 4th year having them at Arrows and 2nd year on staff with the amazing team at Arrows. I have been married to my amazing husband Preston for 13 years now and we have 3 kids Maverick, Malaki and Maleah. We have a cute little farm with all sorts of chickens and ducks to keep us busy. In our down time we love to camp, visit the beach, and get out in the woods to explore. I was born in southern California (Yucca Valley) but moved to southern Oregon with my family when I was 7. I previously worked for a child learning center for 7 years where I got to work with multiple age groups, before becoming a stay at home mom for the last 9 years. I love to get involved with my kids and the activities they choose. I have coached my kids baseball teams and this year we entered into the world of raising a Hog for 4-H. We have been so blessed with Arrows and all it has brought to our homeschooling journey and I look forward to getting to know all your kids more this year and watching them grow.
