Kevin Monk-6th-8th Bible & HistoryHello! My name is Kevin Monk. I am excited about coming onboard and working with Middle School students and families at Arrows in two of my favorite subject areas: Bible and History! My wife and I have been homeschooling our children through various methods since 2012, and are both experienced teachers. We currently have two high-schoolers, a middle schooler and one still in Elementary grades in our home and LOVE the extra time homeschooling gives us as a family. For the past five years I have been teaching Music with Logos Public Charter School and Ruch Outdoor Community School, the very grade school I attended growing up. Prior to that, I taught History, English and Bible to middle school and high school students at Christian schools from 2002 to 2015, while taking a few years off as we added children to our growing family. My wife and I have been married for over 22 years after growing up in the Rogue Valley, moving back here to stay in 2015. I am also the Children/Youth and Music Director at Ruch Community Bible Church, where I lead worship Sunday mornings and help teach kids about Jesus. I am passionate about sharing the Gospel and the truth of the Bible (especially in the historical and archaeological realms), spending time with my family, reading and collecting books, writing and creating artwork in the Science Fiction genre, hiking and riding horses, playing basketball, teaching martial arts, and especially working with kids and youth! I am looking forward to being a part of Arrows! |
Julie Delack-6th-8th Science and Lang. ArtsHi friends! I'm Julie DeLack, this is my third year teaching with Arrows. I am a wife to Jeremy for 13 years together we have three great kiddos who attend Arrows, Amelia (8th grade), Logan (6th grade), and Caleb (1st grade). This will be our fourth year of homeschooling and are so blessed to be a part of the Arrows community! We live up in the mountains of Prospect and enjoy all the rural life has to offer. We spend much of our free time as a family hiking, fishing, and exploring God's amazing creation. I have had the privilege to serve in many different capacities in children’s ministries. Over the years I have taught Pre-K and Kindergarten Sunday School classes as well as helped with an afterschool program for the local kids to learn the good news of Jesus. I helped organize and start a children’s ministry for a small congregation in the area as well as helped kick start their VBS program. I am very much looking forward to walking alongside and encouraging our first-grade families this year through all that the Lord has for us! |
Janelle Ralph-5thI am so happy to a part of the Arrows community, and I am excited to partner with families in teaching 5th grade this year! I grew up here in the Rogue Valley and went through Sams Valley Elementary, Hanby Middle, and Crater High School. I enjoyed growing up in the country, being in youth group, and running cross-country and track in high school. I attended George Fox University and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education and an Oregon Teaching License. After graduation, I headed to China where I taught English at a University for a year and a half. After returning home, I married my wonderful husband, started substitute teaching, and working on my Masters in Education. We spent three years in Indiana with his job before returning to the valley and building our home. I continued to substitute teach, completed my Master’s degree, and taught one year full time in 3rd grade. We were then blessed by our wonderful daughter who will be in 1st grade this year at Arrows. Five years later the Lord blessed us with our son who turned one in June. In addition to teaching, I continue to love running, and my husband and I have completed a half marathon in all 50 states. We also love to travel and have visited 17 countries. Hiking is my other favorite activity along with camping and enjoying time with friends and family. I attend a local church I have been a part of since birth, and I am involved in the Christian Education and Missions committees. I am passionate about Jesus, fitness and nutrition, and the beautiful world the Lord created for all of us. I love to teach and learn and have fun with kids! |
Jennifer Shields-4th GradeI have lived in the Rogue Valley for over 40 years. Graduating from Southern Oregon University in June 2016. I am a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. I also have two Shih-Tzu puppies, Loki & Pico. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends outdoors as much as possible, we like to go camping, hiking, biking, and rafting on the Rogue River. I have always wanted to be a teacher and enjoy working with children. For eight years, I worked as a special education assistant for the Medford School District. I taught two years for the Eagle Point School District and 8 years at Kids Unlimited Academy Charter School, before joining Arrows Academy. Over the years, I have volunteered with Special Olympics, Living Opportunities, the Medford Art Gallery, Polar Express, Feed My Starving Children, local Soup Kitchens, and at Mountain Church. My philosophy for education is to provide a safe learning community for all learners that will allow them to reach their individual academic potential. I want to challenge young learners, provide positive support while embracing different learning styles to accommodate each student’s individual needs. |
Nichole Baird-4th GradeHi! My name is Nichole Baird and I feel so blessed to partner with you in homeschooling your 4th grader! My husband, Adam, and I have been married for 19 years and relocated our family from Lake Havasu City, Arizona to the Rogue Valley at the end of 2015. We have three boys – Micah-17, Seth-15, and Eli-12. I have homeschooled them all from the beginning in 2012 and we had our first graduate this past school year! I was homeschooled myself from 7th grade through high school and then graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, CA. Growing up, I was always very involved in church – starting as a teenager serving in the children’s ministry, cleaning ministry, sound ministry, etc. I was our church secretary for about 12 years before we moved to Oregon. We love our church home at Heritage Christian Fellowship, where I currently serve in the women's and children’s ministries. We started attending Arrows Co-op in 2016 and I taught the co-op Pre-K class during the five years we were involved. This will be my sixth year teaching at Arrows Academy. In previous years, I taught PreK, 3rd grade and 4th grade. I look forward to teaching your kids 2 days a week to be bright, kind, and loving children. |
