Kevin Monk-6th-8th Bible & History

Hello!  My name is Kevin Monk.  I am excited about coming onboard and working with Middle School students and families at Arrows in two of my favorite subject areas: Bible and History! My wife and I have been homeschooling our children through various methods since 2012, and are both experienced teachers.  We currently have two high-schoolers, a middle schooler and one still in Elementary grades in our home and LOVE the extra time homeschooling gives us as a family. For the past five years I have been teaching Music with Logos Public Charter School and Ruch Outdoor Community School, the very grade school I attended growing up.  Prior to that, I taught History, English and Bible to middle school and high school students at Christian schools from 2002 to 2015, while taking a few years off as we added children to our growing family.  My wife and I have been married for over 22 years after growing up in the Rogue Valley, moving back here to stay in 2015.  I am also the Children/Youth and Music Director at Ruch Community Bible Church, where I lead worship Sunday mornings and help teach kids about Jesus.  I am passionate about sharing the Gospel and the truth of the Bible (especially in the historical and archaeological realms), spending time with my family, reading and collecting books, writing and creating artwork in the Science Fiction genre, hiking and riding horses, playing basketball, teaching martial arts, and especially working with kids and youth!  I am looking forward to being a part of Arrows!

Lynnae McCoy-6th-8th Science and Lang. Arts

Hello! My name is Lynnae McCoy. This is my third year teaching with Arrows Academy, and I am so excited to be returning to teaching sixth through eighth grades. Before teaching at Arrows, I taught English to students in China for five years. I also had the privilege of homeschooling my own children during different periods of time as they were growing up. I have so enjoyed having my youngest join me at Arrows--she will be in 8th grade this fall and I love being an Arrows mom as well as an Arrows teacher. I’ve been married to my husband, Jim, for 28 years. We met and married at First Baptist Church, Ashland, and have lived in the Rogue Valley for most of our married life. We have three children ranging in age from 13 to 25. Our daughter, Hannah, works locally. Our son, Jonny, graduated from Cascade Christian and is attending RCC. Last, but certainly not least, our daughter, Grace, will be an 8th grader at Arrows. Our family is active at Community Bible Church, where my husband, oldest daughter, and I serve in worship ministry. In my free time, I like to read, write, and watch my son’s soccer games. I look forward to getting to know your students and working alongside you to prepare them for high school. Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you and your children.

Amy Wilson-5th Grade

Hello!  My name is Amy Wilson.  I’m so happy to be a part of Arrows Academy, partnering with you in teaching your 5th graders! I have been blessed to teach my own daughter in my class, but she is now moving on to sixth grade this fall. In addition, I have 2 high schoolers and 2 graduates, who plan to start college in the fall.  We started homeschooling our 5 kids when my oldest was in 1st grade, and I’ve loved and treasured the time I’ve been given to pour into our children as I teach them at home.   I was homeschooled myself, from kindergarten through high school, and after attending Ecola Bible School in Cannon Beach, Oregon, served for many years in my church's children's and worship ministries. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and moved to the Rogue Valley from Southern California in 2018.  During our years in SoCal, we were involved in some wonderful Homeschooling communities, including Classical Conversations, where I enjoyed tutoring for 3 years.  Since moving here, I’ve had the joy of helping in the Arrows Co-op Pre-K class, and 2-3rd grade Drama class in 2019/20, and this will be my third year teaching 5th grade at the Academy!

Ashely Coleman-4th Grade

Hey there! I’m Ashely Coleman, I’m excited to be returning to Arrows this fall to teach fourth grade. I have a 10-year-old son, Leviticus, (Levi for short), who I have been very blessed to be able to homeschool right from the start, and super thankful to get to continue that as well as link arms with all of you. We did Classical Conversations for the first 4 years, and we joined Arrows two years ago. I was a CC Tutor for three of those years, and I have so enjoyed learning alongside Levi. I believe, like Charlotte Mason said, that “education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life”, and like to call it ‘lifestyle schooling’ because it isn’t just about education by way of academics, it’s about habits, and heart issues, building character, and instilling a love for learning that will follow our kids all through life. I have attended Applegate Christian Fellowship for the last sixteen years where I also serve in the kids ministry. I am very passionate about Jesus and His Word. I love to read. Levi and I enjoy spending time at church, and with family and friends. We are Oregon natives, and we love to be outdoors whether it be camping, floating the river, hanging at the lake, at a park or the occasional hike. I’m looking forward to partnering alongside you this year in “raising kids in the way they should go”!

Nichole Baird-3rd Grade

Hi! My name is Nichole Baird and I feel so blessed to partner with you in homeschooling your 3rd grader! My husband, Adam, and I have been married for 18 years and relocated our family from Lake Havasu City, Arizona to the Rogue Valley at the end of 2015. We have three boys – Micah-16, Seth-14, and Eli-11. I have homeschooled them all from the beginning in 2012, when Micah skipped over kindergarten to begin 1st grade. I was homeschooled myself from 7th grade through high school and then graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, CA. Growing up, I have always been very involved in church – starting as a teenager serving in the children’s ministry, cleaning ministry, sound ministry, etc. I was our church secretary for about 12 years before we moved to Oregon. We love our church home at Heritage Christian Fellowship, where I currently serve in the children’s ministry. We became involved with Arrows Co-op shortly after moving here and I taught the co-op Pre-K class during the five years we were involved.  This will be my fifth year teaching at Arrows Academy.  I previously taught the PreK class, 3rd grade, 4th grade and am moving back to 3rd grade this year! I look forward to partnering with you in raising bright, kind, and loving children.
